sources!
Judy shares her knowledge and expertise in this series of videos tailored for use by beginners as well as advanced
dollmakers. In Babies for Beginners, Judy paints three
different babies-Sugar Britches, Baby Gloria, and Sweetness-
using the water base technique. In addition to painting
techniques, she shows how to stuff and assemble the bodies,
apply false eyelashes, set eyes, mix paint and blend colors,
as well as techniques for working with painted hair and wigs.
In Painting French Dolls, Judy focuses on a Bru and a Jumeau,
using easy painting techniques. The advantage of
videocassette instruction is obvious: the viewer can stop, start
and review as needed. We found an additional benefit: we could
watch a doll’s personality emerge through the painting
process. When Judy was working on pieces, the flow of her
presentation was excellent. She presented tips and tidbits of
information and her personality and love of the craft were
evident. This real pro doing her thing makes the process look
easy, and after all, isn’t that the point?”
